Description

Sheffield Hallam’s Personal Trainer Award is a modern, industry-recognised qualification, mapped to the CIMSPA (Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity) professional standard for Personal Training. The qualification is designed to help you build a successful and rewarding career as a Personal Trainer, allowing you to apply your skills and knowledge with arrange of clients and multiple environments.
As this is a pilot project and this first programme is only open to SHU sport students
The course dates are 11th - 14th May and 18th-21st May

Detailed Description

Before enrolling, you must have successfully completed a Level 2 Gym or Exercise Instructor Award.Please do not enrol if you do not have this prerequisite. You also should be a student in the School of Sport and Physical Activity. Please note that for this course, we will be prioritising students due to graduate in November 2026. 
Course Structure:
The Personal Trainer Award will be delivered over 8 days of face-to-face delivery at Sheffield Hallam.  
Course Features:
•    Practical Application: Practical sessions to put theory into practice
•    Expert Guidance: Direct support and feedback from experienced trainers and industry professionals
•    Real-World Experience: Complete a 12-week personal training programme with a client, with ongoing support and feedback from your tutors
•    Comprehensive Assessment: From online workbooks to evidence upload and a simulated job interview, your skills will be assessed and feedback provided at every stage
How You’ll Be Assessed:
•    Online Workbooks on Anatomy and Physiology, Non-Communicable Diseases, and Nutrition 
•    Evidence Uploads: Document your work with clients, including consultations, fitness assessments, progressive plans, and session delivery
•    Simulated Job Interview: Showcase your knowledge and professional practice in a 30-minute interview with real-world business and client scenarios
•    Practical Observations: Demonstrate your consultation skills, assessment exercise techniques and programme delivery during course practical’s
